I've always been drawn to the process of refinement and optimisation — understanding how things work and finding creative ways to make them better. This mindset extends into many areas of my life, from refining the layout of a space to packing my bag for a trip away, I'm always looking for ways to improve outcomes.

As I've since realised, this way of thinking was always steering me towards architecture. After finishing school, I chose to study architecture and completed a Bachelor of Design (Architecture). As I began designing homes and spaces, it became clear that in order to truly optimise planning for the built environment, I needed to experience what it takes to build it.

This realisation led me to become a qualified carpenter, certified in building and construction. Working on projects built from my own designs, as well as alongside other architects and designers, has given me a deeper understanding of how decisions made during the planning stages influence the entire building process and the experience people have living in their home.

Today, I approach every project with the aim of combining creativity, careful planning and practical building knowledge to create homes that are considered, functional and connected to the people who live in them. My experience in both architecture and construction allows me to make informed decisions from the outset — carefully balancing design, function and buildability to achieve the best possible outcome for every project.

Why "Fingermark"?

The name Fingermark comes from the idea of leaving an lasting impression. As the hands create physically, thoughtful design has the ability to leave its own mark — shaping the way people feel, live, and connect with a place. It’s about creating spaces that complement the lives and stories of the people living in them.

There also happens to be a slightly less philosophical reason behind the name… trips to remote parts of Northern Australia with my dad and brother have become some of my favourite memories. Our diet mostly consists of what we can catch and whilst I love them all, Fingermark, I reckon, is the tastiest fish in the ocean. Seeing as though I can throw some airy fairy conceptual design meaning into the name as well, it felt like a pretty good fit!
