Robey Road

Robey began as a small lakeside shack on the tip of Coal Point, occupying one of Lake Macquarie’s most spectacular outlooks. Despite its incredible setting, the home barely acknowledged the view, capturing it only through a small sunroom and even a bedroom robe. The project sought to reverse that relationship by placing the landscape at the centre of the home and creating new living spaces that grew naturally from the existing structure.

Delivered over two stages, the transformation began within the original footprint, allowing the home to remain comfortably lived in before a significant extension completed the vision.

The second stage was initially progressed for council approval with the assistance of another designer, after which I completed the Construction Certificate documentation and continued the project through detailed design development and construction. My involvement extended well beyond the drawings. I worked for the builder while completing my carpentry apprenticeship, coordinated consultants and trades on site, and led many of the material, detailing, and construction decisions that shaped the finished home.
